The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has this afternoon met with HE Salvador Valdes Mesa, the Cuban Vice president in the South Committee Room of parliament.

Kadaga told the V.P to help market Uganda since it has a very good tourism potential.

On the other hand, HE Valdes Mesa said the main purpose of his visit is to rekindle the relationships between the two countries, adding that health care cooperation is important as Cuba has made tremendous progress in the same area.

“Cuba has successfully researched and developed modern medicine for diabetes and hepatitis & we are ready to support you” HE Valdes Mesa said.

He called on the Parliament of Uganda to ask the US for total removal of the blockade on Cuba. HE Valdes Mesa also told the speaker that Cuba has 600 MPs despite the small size of the country which is divided into 168 municipalities.

He added that they have enacted a new law that will allow foreign capital for investment in Cuba.

H.E Valdes Mesa arrived in the country last evening on a two day official visit.
