Alex Luwemba Luswa rose to prominence this year after the death of Muhammad Segirinya, who was a Member of Parliament representing the Kawempe North constituency.
Weeks after Segirinya's death, he appeared ready to vie for the same position but was denied the party ticket by the National Unity Platform.
The ticket was given to Elias Nalukoola, who eventually won the position and is currently serving as the MP for the constituency. Despite contesting independently, Alex Luswa lost terribly.
Luwemba Luswa, who earlier declared his intention to contest for the presidency of the country, has made a U-turn; he is now set to contest for the Kawempe North MP position.
In an interview with a local television station, Luswa made the announcement, revealing he is ready to unseat Elias Nalukoola from parliament in the general elections next year.
"I am not going for any other position apart from Kawempe North MP. I have already made my moves and will be trusted with votes this time around. Nalukoola doesn't have the support on the ground," he explained.
Luwemba, however, did not reveal whether he will contest independently or seek another party ticket away from the National Unity Platform.
