Retired blogger Ashburg Kato has resurfaced with explosive claims, alleging he has been sidelined from efforts to distribute the UGX 5 billion pledged by Yoweri Museveni to support Ugandan content creators.
Kato insists the idea behind organizing bloggers originated from him, arguing he deserves recognition—and a share—in the process.
“I deserve to be at the top of the list… the President knows me and the work I have done,” he said.
He also made controversial political remarks, claiming he played a role in weakening the National Unity Platform (NUP) during the 2021 political cycle.
However, Kato’s political journey has been anything but stable.
In 2023, he publicly distanced himself from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), saying he felt misled despite initially supporting President Museveni’s vision.
“When I met President Museveni in 2020, I traded everything for the ghetto initiative… I fell into a political trap,” he lamented.
According to sources, efforts are now underway—allegedly spearheaded by musician Bebe Cool—to arrange a meeting between Kato and the president to resolve his concerns.
There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting Kato could be considered for a government role, possibly as an assistant RDC in the Greater Masaka region.
