Former Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko has made a dramatic U-turn on his earlier criticism of Bobi Wine, now backing the opposition leader’s decision to leave the country.

Nsereko, who previously questioned Bobi Wine’s move abroad amid fears of arrest, says recent events have changed his perspective.

According to him, Ugandans often celebrate leaders when they are fighting for public causes but abandon them when they face trouble.

“Ugandans are users. They cheer you when you’re fighting for them but disappear when you get into trouble,” Nsereko said in a video circulating on TikTok.

Why He Changed His Mind

Nsereko pointed to the recent arrest of Erias Lukwago and the public silence around his situation as proof that political leaders are often left to fight alone.

He also referenced the health struggles of former Speaker Anita Among, arguing that even leaders who have helped many people can find themselves unsupported.

“I now support Bobi Wine and believe he made the right decision to go abroad,” he added.

Growing Political Debate

Nsereko’s remarks have stirred fresh debate online, with some agreeing that Uganda’s political climate can be isolating for opposition figures, while others accuse him of inconsistency.

His comments come just days after he publicly criticized government over Anita Among’s health condition, further fueling political discussion.
