On Monday, the High Court of Uganda nullified Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola's election as the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North constituency in Kampala. This nullification followed a successful petition by NRM's Nambi Farida Kigongo.

Justice Bernard Namanya ruled that the by-election held in March 2025 failed to comply with the Parliamentary Elections Act, noting that irregularities significantly affected the outcome.

Alex Luswa Luwemba now states that Nalukoola must "kneel before the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni" if he wishes to remain in Parliament.

Luwemba explained that even with an appeal, the President has the power to direct the Court of Appeal to rule in favor of NRM's candidate, Nambi Farida Kigongo.

"Nalukoola will not be in Parliament unless he kneels before the Speaker of Parliament and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. It's only those two who can determine his fate; they can give orders that will be respected by everyone, including courts," Luwemba explained in an interview with a local YouTuber.

Despite being removed from Parliament by the High Court, Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola has appealed the ruling and will remain in his position until the matter is resolved by the Court of Appeal.

It should be noted that Alex Luwemba Luswa also contested in the by-election but lost, failing to secure even 500 votes.
