The debate surrounding DNA tests for children in various homes around Kampala continues to grow every other day.

Just a few weeks back, the children of the late Muhammad Segirinya were taken for DNA testing, and only four out of the nine were confirmed to be his biological children.

The results raised a storm among the family members, as the wives of the deceased rejected the DNA results, accusing his mother and friends of manipulating them for selfish reasons.

Now, former Member of Parliament for Kawempe South Constituency, Mubarak Munyagwa, has warned men against taking their children for DNA testing.

He explained it's not morally right, brings tension into the family, and causes deep suffering to both parents and children when the results come back negative.

He says children are a blessing from God, and a man should simply take on responsibility whenever the mother chooses to offer him the child.

"I am against this thing of DNA testing. It's not morally right, and I warn all men against doing it. It's not morally right and only brings suffering and trauma into the family. Men should just provide for children whenever a woman brings them to you as your own," he explained in an interview with a local television station.

Munyagwa says he personally will never take his children for DNA testing.
