Musician Bebe Cool believes Uganda currently has no truly global artist.

Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Bebe Cool disputed the claim that Eddy Kenzo is a global artist. He states that no one has achieved that status in the country.

He argued that while Eddy Kenzo performed exceedingly well with the song "Sitya Loss," he hasn't consistently performed well enough globally to be branded a "global artist."

"Ugandans just don't know the meaning of the word 'global.' They misuse it. I think many just want to cause a fight between me and him. We have no global artist in Uganda at the moment," he explained in an interview with a local YouTuber.

The Gagamel boss further argued that East Africa currently has no global artist in the region, and it is Diamond Platnumz who has, so far, made the most significant efforts in that direction.

"Actually, we don't have any global artist in East Africa. Diamond Platnumz has performed really well; he has pushed this far, working with bigger international artists, but he hasn't reached there yet," he added.

Bebe Cool further explained that the region should work to foster growth among artists from different countries. He believes this will promote music growth in the region.

He argues that achieving the international dream for many artists will require a bigger budget. He says he personally needs approximately 30 billion shillings to promote his album across the world.

"The Ugandan music industry needs more than 30 billion Uganda shillings. 30 billion is very little and it can't do anything; personally, I need 30 billion to promote my album across the world," he explained.

He states that so far, he has used 220 million shillings on marketing and promotion across three countries: Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

"I have so far spent 220 million on just media tours in only three countries, including Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. But I have to go to London, Kigali, and Lagos, plus other destinations for its promotion," he added.
