Alex Luwemba Luswa was nominated on Friday to contest for the position of Kawempe North LC5 councilor.
The former political aide to the late Muhammad Ssegirinya explained that he chose to contest for the position to better serve his people.
"I think in this position, I will serve my people better. I didn't win at the parliamentary level, but I am confident of a win at the local council, and that's the reason I chose to contest for the position," he explained.
Luwemba Luswa is running as an independent and says he would have joined another political party but believes the electorates are the ones who will decide his fate.
He doesn't want to be under the rules and guidelines of a political party, which is why he chose to run independently.
"I chose to run independently because my fate will be decided by my electorates. I don't want to run under a political party because they might have strict rules and guidelines," he explained.
It should be noted that in March of this year, Luwemba Luswa contested for the Kawempe North MP position and lost to NUP's Elias Nalukoola.
