Upcoming Ugandan musician Aaronix has expressed deep regret over his past remarks criticizing veteran artist Bebe Cool and downplaying his legacy in the music industry.
In August, Aaronix sparked controversy after claiming that Bebe Cool had “accomplished nothing musically” compared to fellow stars Bobi Wine and Jose Chameleone. His comments quickly went viral, drawing widespread backlash from music fans and industry insiders.
“They are legends because of their contribution, but it’s a different case with Bobi Wine and Chameleone. They stand apart from Bebe Cool and have accomplished careers. Bebe Cool has nothing to copy from because he hasn’t accomplished anything,” Aaronix said at the time.
Following the public outrage, Aaronix issued an apology — and now says he still regrets ever making those statements.
“I regret speaking badly about Bebe Cool. I was happy when I said those things, making fun and insisting. But after the interview, I started thinking about the outcome of my words. The attacks that followed made me realize I was wrong. I will live to regret my statements,” he admitted in a recent TV interview.
The young artist acknowledged that the controversy taught him a valuable lesson about respect and humility, especially when speaking about industry veterans.
