Musician Nina Roz has defended her meeting with Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director Nyombi Thembo, dismissing claims that she betrayed the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Nina Roz faced criticism from some social media users following the meeting, with sections of netizens questioning her decision to engage with the UCC leadership.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, the singer explained that the meeting was intended to follow up on the certification requirements for her upcoming concert scheduled for December 11, 2026, at Hockey Grounds in Lugogo.
She apologised to fans and NUP supporters who were offended by the meeting but insisted that her actions were driven by the need to comply with the commission’s regulations.
“I never betrayed my party and supporters, as some people are claiming. I apologise to those who saw it that way, but the meeting aimed to secure certification for the event. You know, before organising a concert, you have to get the certificate from the commission, which gives you the go-ahead,” she said.
