Social media personality Joan Mulungi has spoken about the emotional toll of her separation from journalist Gabriel Buule, revealing that she experienced severe mental health struggles following the end of their marriage.

Mulungi and Buule married in April 2024 and frequently supported each other publicly amid online criticism. However, the relationship later ended, drawing widespread attention and discussion on social media.

Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Mulungi recalled one of the most difficult periods of her life, saying the emotional pain left her overwhelmed.

"There is a day I won't forget that I cried for 36 hours. To stop crying, I had to be asleep... Every time I woke up, I remembered I had problems and then cried again afresh," she said.

Mulungi also revealed that she experienced thoughts of ending her life during that period, saying much of her distress came from worrying about how the public attention surrounding her separation was affecting her parents.

"I pictured the parents who have struggled to raise me looking through the media... My mother is a strong woman but I was worried about my dad. He is weak like me and we cry easily. We cannot handle problems," she said.

Her account highlights the emotional impact that public scrutiny can have following a relationship breakdown and underscores the importance of seeking support during difficult moments.
