Susan Makula Bujjingo has urged women to know their worth and prioritise personal growth and stability instead of tying their happiness to romantic relationships.
Speaking at the Beauty Beyond The Scars event over the weekend, Makula, a mother of two, questioned why some women become emotionally distressed over men who have not yet established their own homes.
“Let’s uplift ourselves. Show your worth. Why would you cry for someone who’s still renting? Let’s cry for people who have built houses,” she said.
Makula clarified that her remarks were not intended to disrespect men who are still renting, but rather to encourage women to consider stability when choosing partners.
She argued that depending entirely on a partner can leave a woman vulnerable, particularly when the relationship ends or circumstances change.
“Some women have only a key to the man’s house and act like they are holding his heart, yet he’s still renting. You won’t heal that way,” she said.
Makula further encouraged women to place greater value on themselves and avoid making their happiness dependent on whether a partner is present in their lives.
