Musician Vinka has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting her husband, Nelly Witta, despite backlash she faced over his decision to contest for Parliament on the NRM ticket.
Vinka came under criticism in August from a section of NUP supporters who opposed her decision to stand by her husband during his political campaign. Some called for a boycott of her maiden concert as a result.
Speaking at an event in Kampala, Vinka said the criticism would not change her position, insisting that supporting her husband is a matter of family rather than politics.
“Go and support your husbands in whatever they are doing. Personally, I can never give up on supporting my husband despite the noise. I will keep showing up for him no matter the noise from the sides,” she said.
Vinka explained that her decision to support Witta should not be interpreted as a political statement, but as her responsibility as a wife to stand by her husband.
Despite the boycott calls, Vinka went ahead with her maiden concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, which was successfully held.
