Pastor Bujjingo’s wife, Susan Makula, has responded to criticism over her recent remarks advising women against crying over men who are still renting, saying she is not bothered by the backlash.
Susan explained that she also started life while renting and currently has tenants and friends who still live in rented homes. She said her comments were intended to encourage women to work towards improving their circumstances rather than look down on people who rent.
“If you’re a woman getting married to a man who is still renting, work towards leaving that and grow,” she said.
Susan maintained that her message was not meant to please or provoke anyone, but to encourage women to think about their future and actively work towards achieving their goals.
She also raised concern about what she described as the normalisation of single motherhood, arguing that some men father children and leave women to raise them alone.
“It has become a norm, and yet it is so wrong,” she said.
Susan further urged women to take responsibility for their own futures instead of depending entirely on their partners.
“No one is going to love your future more than yourself,” she said, encouraging women to identify what they want in life and deliberately work towards achieving it.
