Musician Alien Skin has questioned Bebe Cool’s status in Uganda’s music industry, arguing that the Gagamel boss does not belong in the same category as Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine.

Speaking during a discussion on TikTok, Alien Skin described Bebe Cool as an ordinary singer rather than a superstar, saying Chameleone and Bobi Wine have made a greater impact on other artistes and inspired younger generations.

He argued that Chameleone has helped shape the careers of several musicians and continues to influence upcoming talent. He also credited Bobi Wine with having a similar impact, but said Bebe Cool had not achieved the same.

“Bebe Cool is not a superstar. He is a singer and doesn't deserve to be mentioned among stars. Chameleone is also a superstar; he made a difference for different people and inspires a lot of people. It is the same with Bobi Wine, and different with Bebe,” Alien Skin said.

The Fangone Forest boss also named Eddy Kenzo and Gravity Omutujju among the artistes he considers superstars.

His remarks add to the ongoing debate about the status of Uganda’s leading musicians, with artistes and fans often disagreeing over what defines a superstar, including musical influence, commercial success and impact on the industry.
