Last week, Commissioner of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga launched his political party in Masaka District.
He was joined by other politicians, including Abed Bwanika, Juliet Kakande, and the current Member of Parliament for Kampala Central.
The ceremony was graced by thousands of people and has ignited debate all over social media, with many suggesting it will take over NUP's influence in Buganda.
However, media critic Frank Gashumba has disagreed, stating that the Democratic Front will not last beyond next year.
Gashumba explained that Mpuuga personally lost influence in the country after the five hundred million saga and cannot drive anything politically better.
"They will not bring any member into Parliament come 2026. Not any, including Mpuuga, Abed Bwanika, Juliet Kakande, and everyone else in that political party. The five hundred million he stole destroyed his reputation countrywide," he explained.
Mathias Mpuuga, before forming the Democratic Front, was a member of the National Unity Platform. He was the Deputy President in the Central Region.
He also served as the Leader of the Opposition and is currently serving as a commissioner in Parliament.
