The Democratic Front (DF), led by Mathias Mpunga, continues to attract prominent figures from the National Unity Platform (NUP) as political realignments take shape ahead of the upcoming elections.
The party, which was formed after Mpunga’s fallout with Bobi Wine, has become a new home for several disgruntled NUP members — particularly those dissatisfied with the recent vetting process conducted by the party’s Elections Management Committee.
Among the latest politicians to cross over are Fred Simbwa, the current Member of Parliament for Nakifuma Constituency, Musiri David, the former NUP Head of Institutions, and Winfred Nakandi.
Musiri David is set to contest for the Makindye West Constituency, while Winfred Nakandi will be vying for the Nakawa East parliamentary seat under the Democratic Front ticket.
Additionally, Joan Lule Nakintu, a former media personality and one-time NUP member, has also joined Mpunga’s camp and will be contesting for the Mpigi District Woman MP position.
The growing list of defections has positioned the Democratic Front as a rising force in the opposition space, steadily drawing attention and reshaping the country’s political landscape.
