Uganda’s radio and television presenters have officially stepped into a new era after registering their own association with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) — a move aimed at unlocking government recognition, support, and funding.
The development was confirmed by media personality MC Kats, who took to social media to announce that the body is now fully registered and ready to represent presenters across mainstream platforms.
According to MC Kats, the association was born out of a long-standing gap in representation for radio and TV hosts, despite their massive contribution to national development.
“At some point, nearly all creative and professional groupings had established associations, with the notable exception of presenters on mainstream radio and television. Against this backdrop, we conceived the idea of forming our own association,” his statement read.
He explained that the goal is to ensure presenters enjoy the same formal recognition and benefits already extended to musicians, comedians, drama actors, and other creatives — including access to government support and funding.
“This would enable us to benefit from government support while acknowledging the important role we play in contributing to national development,” the statement added.
With this move, radio and TV presenters are no longer just voices behind the mic — they are now an organized force with a seat at the table
