Former journalist and politician Agnes Nandutu has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of corruption.

The former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court over the diversion of 2,000 iron sheets that were meant for vulnerable communities in Karamoja.

In addition to the prison sentence, Nandutu has been barred from holding public office for 10 years.

She has 14 days to appeal the sentence at the High Court.

In 2023, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Justice Jane Frances Abodo, sanctioned corruption charges against Agnes Nandutu and Amos Lugoloobi. However, the charges against Lugoloobi were later dropped, leaving Nandutu as the sole accused in the case.
