Former dancer and entertainer Ronnie Stamina has opened up about his troubled relationship with musician and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo, accusing him of ignoring his attempts to seek help.
Speaking in a recent interview, Ronnie, who featured as a dancer in Kenzo’s breakthrough hit Stamina, revealed that he once reached out to the singer during a difficult period in his life.
According to Ronnie, he wanted to join Kenzo’s campaign activities and requested financial support to help him provide for his family.
“I called him and he wasn’t picking up, and I thought he was in a loud place, so I sent him a message saying, ‘Hello brother, can you at least call me so that I can move with you every day in campaigns and at least give me Shs200,000 daily so that I can take care of my family,’” Ronnie said.
He added that he no longer has evidence of the conversation because the iPhone that contained the messages was later stolen.
However, Ronnie said the response he received after sending the message left him disappointed. He clarified that he could not confirm whether the reply came directly from Kenzo, noting that the musician often allows other people to handle his phone.
“The person who responded, I won’t say it’s Kenzo because Kenzo gives his phones to other people to hold for him, responded saying, ‘I am not your brother,’” Ronnie alleged.
The former dancer said the incident remains one of the most painful experiences he has had involving the award-winning musician and wishes their relationship had taken a different direction.
