Uganda's entertainment industry is mourning the passing of Mrs. Maggie Kiweesi, the widow of late celebrated musician AK47, who passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Her death has left behind young children who are now without both parents, having lost their father years earlier.
Justine Nameere Nsubuga, Woman Member of Parliament for Masaka City and Minister of State for Local Government, announced Maggie's passing through her social media platforms, informing government officials and the public about the loss.
"In accordance with protocol, I humbly inform His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Her Excellency the Vice President, the Right Honourable Prime Minister and all Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of Local Government, all Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and all staff, all Members of Parliament, Owekitiibwa the Pookino wa Buddu, and the general public about the passing," she partly wrote.
Funeral Arrangements
Vigil:
Vigil prayers are ongoing for three days at the home of her parents in Katabi, Entebbe, as the family awaits relatives travelling from the United States of America to attend the final farewell.
Burial:
The burial ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Kibbugga Village, Butambala District. Prayers will begin at 12:00pm.
Tributes and condolence messages have continued pouring in from Ugandans across the country, with many expressing sympathy for the family and the children left behind.
