Musician Reagan Muhairwe is always going past his comfort zone for the betterment of his own music.
The singer, who has spent years working on an extended play, dropped it on the 7th of this month after months of waiting.
Following the release, Ray G has embarked on selling physical copies of the extended play. He is aiming to get fifty million Uganda shillings from it.
The singer explained he made only one hundred copies of the EP, and each is going for five hundred thousand Uganda shillings.
"We strictly made 100 copies, and each will be going for UGX 500,000. I want all good-willed Ugandans to support me in this initiative," he explained while appearing on the NBS After 5 show.
Ray G emphasizes that the album is looking beyond the country, with its sound focused more on East African audiences.
"I envisioned my EP for East Africa. I wanted a sound that can cross borders," he added.
The singer also revealed he has been working on the extended play since 2017. He first wanted to work on it as an album but chose to do the extended play because of low streaming numbers.
"The Checkmate EP is something I have been working on for a while. I originally wanted it to be an album, but I decided to make it an EP because our streaming numbers are still low. I actually started working on it back in 2017," he added.
