Music concerts in Kampala are mandated to end exactly at midnight. This regulation was put in place to minimize noise pollution and allow residents to sleep peacefully.

However, Presidential Advisor Eddy Kenzo wants this rule changed. He explained that, along with others, they are advocating for an extension from 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM.

He explained that artists are currently performing for only two hours, which is not enough. He says they should perform for at least four hours because revelers often arrive late due to traffic congestion and other challenges.

"We want to try and request the performance time be increased from 12 AM to at least 2 AM because people get delayed in traffic and enter concerts between 8 PM and 10 PM. Artists end up performing late and often have supporting acts, so two hours is a very small time," he explained while addressing journalists in Kampala.

The President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) revealed that the extension would prevent instances of certain individuals using their authority to extend performances for particular artists, which causes jealousy and anger among others.

"That will stop the act of me or any other official using their authority to extend the time and making some jealous people feel angry about the double standards," he added.

The Big Talent boss also stated that, as the UNMF, they are working with the government to reduce taxes for the benefit of entertainers.

"We are striving for that and also to reduce the taxes for the betterment of the entertainment industry," he added.
