Multitalented media personality and singer Crysto Panda has sparked debate after claiming that creating a hit song has little to do with talent or hard work, attributing musical success to divine intervention and chance.
The celebrated radio and television presenter, who has released several successful songs during his entertainment career, made the remarks during a media interview, offering a perspective that is likely to divide opinion within Uganda's music industry.
According to Crysto Panda, no artiste, regardless of their talent or dedication, can deliberately create a hit song. He believes it is ultimately God who determines which songs resonate with audiences and become successful.
“Hit songs come by chance. You can't decide when to make one. It's God who chooses a hit song, not talent or even hard work,” he stated.
His remarks are particularly notable given his experience as both a media personality and a recording artiste.
While some may agree that there is an element of unpredictability in what becomes a hit, others in the music industry are likely to argue that consistency, quality production, and hard work remain essential ingredients for success.
