The Kampala capital city authority says they have a mandate to close all facilities especially those that affect city dwellers health wise, or those that deal in food production if they do not meet  the standards set for them.

Appearing on the Galaxy fm breakfast show this morning, KCCA public relations officer Peter Kaujju cited an example of a city abattoir which was recently warned against dumping raw blood and waste into the Nakivubo drainage channel.

According to Kaujju, the operators at the abattoir were warned and advised to get a treatment plant before such waste is released.

Kaujju says; "We have communicated to them and indicated that they need to improve, if they don't, because we will continue with further engagement, the law allows us to even close. We will have the facility either closed or suspended whichever action we will deem right, because that's our mandate."
