
President Yoweri Museveni has warned Ugandans against land fragmentation. The president made the caution while handing over eight modern agriculture tractors to three constituents, two kingdoms, two farmers and a peace initiative group in fulfillment of pledges he made two years ago during the Operation wealth creation campaign.
According to state house, the beneficiaries are the Kyabazinga of Busoga, the Royal Kingdom of Alur, Isingiro County South, Usuk County, Bukedea District, Abdul Mangati, a prominent farmer in Kasese, the Family of the late Oboth-Ofumbi in Tororo and the Alinga Obongi Peace Initiative.
The President also donated four vehicles to three individuals and a women's SACCO.
The vehicles were donated to the Bishop of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Busoga (Virgo Pick Up Hilux UBA 773M), Mary Ssimbwa, the widow of the late Prince Ssimbwa who received a Prado TX UBA 419P, The widow of the late Kibazo also received a Prado TX UBA 513O and the Busoga Women Adventist Church SACCO was given a Mini Bus Hiace Taxi registration number UBA 960M.
According to the State House Comptroller Ms. Lucy Nakyobe Mbonye, some of the tractors were procured last year but could not be given away because it was election year.
President Museveni advised the beneficiaries to use the tractors to promote modern agro production and sensitize farmers against fragmenting their land. He added that in this way, they will ensure more production and better incomes," he said.
The ceremony took place at State House, Entebbe.
