
The marine police and residents are still searching for two bodies of fishermen who drowned in Lake George on Sunday night.
Five fishermen who were on the boat died after their boat capsized. However, police with help from residents managed to retrieve three bodied by last evening, while search for the other two resumes this morning.
Police identifies the dead as Mark Masereka Kisenja, Robert Muhindo, a one Kisirika, Saturday Mutoro and Landus Muthahinga. These are residents of Kithabona village Kyarumba sub county, Musyenene village in Nyakiyumbu Sub county and Bwera Subcounty in Kasese district.
According to Joe Ddamulira an officer from the fisheries protection unit that operates on Lake George, the boat accident was as a result of a heavy downpour and windstorms experienced on the Sunday night.
The five fishermen had apparently sailed over 4 miles off Kasenyi landing site to Akika Island to lay traps.
Katwe Division police commander Julius Baganzi says the search continues with hope to recover the remaining bodies today.
