People like to say they feel safer in church, but on Sunday 30th/09/2018, Christians that were attending prayers in the International University of East Africa Auditorium got a scare of their life, and forgot about God’s protection for at least an hour.
During prayers at the Kasanga based university, it is alleged that an item suspected to be an explosive was sighted by one of the security guards who immediately alerted the area police.
The police Bomb Squad responded fast, took control of the situation, had the worshippers evacuated to another safely designated place for what it terms as ‘normal prayers’.
Upon examination however, the object turned out to be a party popper and was safely taken away from the scene. Police then commended the members of the public for being vigilant and informing the police in time.
“However we still call upon the entire public to remain vigilant, report, inform the area police in case of any incidents and items that look suspicious in their communities. Members of the public should always take necessary security precautions at their homes, roads, places of leisure, worship etc.
Please take note of our emergency help line: 0800122291 and KMP Whatsapp Helpline: 0714631827” police said.
