The Uganda Traffic Police has issued a prior warning to parents overloading children on one Boda Boda as schools resume operations.

Schools across the country will start normal operations for the third term on Monday, September 05, 2022.

While addressing journalists on Monday at Naguru in Kampala, Traffic Police Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima warned that carrying multiple children on one Boda Boda creates a higher risk of accidents.

“We are passing a warning before school begins. We shall inconvenience you once we find the children carried in big numbers on those motorcycles. So parents should take note,” she says

Nampiima further advised parents to find safer alternatives for transporting learners.

“Do not risk using Boda Boda as a means of transport to take back your children to school because it is really risky since the child is overloaded with property on the same Boda Boda,” Nampiima said.

Nampiima has also tasked schools to ensure that their vehicles are in good mechanical condition as they transport learners. Take vehicles for inspection before and obtain Certificates of fitness.

She has also warned schools with outstanding EPS tickets to ensure they pay arrears to avoid falling prey.

“We will not accept any excuses during the time of arrest because we have urged you for almost three weeks to clear the pending arrears to avoid inconveniences while executing your work in the rush hours,” Nampiima said.
