The Police at Katwe arrested a man identified as Ntare after his building wall fence collapsed and damaged 6 motor vehicles.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson says the incident happened on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2022, at Wovatoyombye Garage in Church Zone, Makindye Division in Kampala.

Owoyesigyire confirms they have arrested Ntare to aid with investigations.

He explains that preliminary findings suggest that the affected wall fence was weakened by a neighbor whose fence was already cracking as a result of a poor drainage system.

He adds that a report from the technical persons will be handed to the police to aid in the ongoing investigations.

Owoyesigyire however says no injuries or deaths of persons were reported in the incident. More details will be provided as soon as they are available.

A similar incident at the Old taxi park last week caused the death of a street vendor after a dilapidated mall gate collapsed on him.

The entrance gate at Park Nkadde Mall collapsed and killed a hawker identified as Ronald Nduggwa on the spot.

Eyewitnesses at Old Taxi Park claim the deceased was passing when the gate collapsed and killed him.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said then that Nduggwa’s death is a result of negligence by the managers of the building.
