
Last week, the news did rounds across the country that Uganda’s number one shopping centre, Nakumatti might close shop in Kampala over Shs 500bn debt.
According to media reports, it was reported that Nakumatti supermarket accumulated the debt in a space of two years. It includes rent and taxes.
In an interview with the top management of Nakumatti, we can exclusively report that Nakumatti will not exit the market.
The management is busy working day and night to clear the debt and in the next two months, they will have finished.
So many supermarkets have been closing in Uganda over same issues. Ntinda’s quality shopping supermarket closed a few months back over rent issues. It remained with only one branch in Naalya
