Former Da Mighty Family comedian Sami Mighty, real name Sami Okonya, is publicly expressing deep regret over his involvement with the National Unity Platform (NUP), revealing the high personal cost of his political activism.

In an emotional appeal, Sami shared that his political journey has left him physically ill, emotionally distressed, and financially vulnerable. The heaviest blow, he says, was the end of his marriage.

"My wife left me, yet she had warned me about joining politics... I wish I had listened to her. I appeal to Ugandans for their support,” he said.

Sami, who was arrested multiple times due to his activism, is now battling poor health and seeking financial help for his medical needs. He recounted how his condition worsened after receiving what he considered limited support from the NUP.

“NUP hasn’t helped me much. They took me to Wandegeya first and treated me and stopped there. They gave me Shs 1.2 million,” Sami disclosed.

Surpringly, the ailing comedian revealed that singer and staunch government supporter Bebe Cool stepped in to assist him during his lowest moment. Despite their political differences, Bebe Cool reportedly facilitated Sami’s transfer from Bombo Military Hospital to Mulago National Referral Hospital for better treatment.

“I thank Bebe Cool. He helped me despite the things I said against the government and NRM. He made sure I got better medical care,” Sami saida.
