Presidential candidate Mubaraka Munyagwa has boldly rejected the idea that Uganda’s 2026 presidential contest is only between President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Bobi Wine, insisting he enjoys massive support — especially in the countryside.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Munyagwa revealed that what the media portrays in urban centres is very different from the political reality on the ground, particularly in Western Uganda.
“The media has tried to portray this as a two-horse race, but what is in the countryside is totally different. Yes, Museveni and Kyagulanyi may have more support, but we also have overwhelming support,” Munyagwa stated.
The Common Man’s Party flag bearer further projected a strong showing for his camp, predicting a two-digit percentage for himself and also for the FDC candidate.
“We expect a two-digit performance. Something above 15% for us, and the FDC will also have a two-digit performance,” he added.
Munyagwa has previously maintained that no single candidate will cross the 51% threshold required by law for outright victory.
