Events promoter Abtex has reignited the growing rivalry between musicians King Saha and Ray G, insisting that Saha's recent concert at Kololo failed to surpass the benchmark set by the Western Uganda star.
Abtex, who promoted Ray G's Kololo show, argued that the size of Saha's stage should not be used as the ultimate measure of a successful concert.
“The Stage Is Just Decoration”
According to Abtex, King Saha appeared determined to outdo Ray G by putting up a bigger and more elaborate stage, but he believes the effort did little to prove the singer's superiority.
“Saha wanted a big stage just to outcompete Ray G, but it was meaningless. Stage is all about decoration,” Abtex argued.
The promoter instead pointed to the financial returns from a concert as a more important measure of success.
He questioned whether Saha's show generated significant profits, citing the relatively cheap ticket prices and free entries that characterised the event.
Abtex Questions Saha's Opposition Stance
Abtex also took aim at Saha's political positioning, questioning the irony of an artiste perceived to be opposed to the government holding a major concert at the government-managed Kololo grounds while benefiting from state facilities and security.
“I don’t think even his leader Robert Kyagulanyi is happy with this,” Abitex said.
He questioned how Saha could simultaneously oppose the government while relying on government-managed facilities and services for his concert.
“Ray G Is the King of Kololo”
As the promoter behind Ray G's Kololo concert, Abtex maintained that the Western Uganda singer remains the “King of Kololo,” arguing that his show delivered strong commercial returns rather than simply putting up an impressive production.
His comments, however, have attracted criticism from some music fans, who accuse the promoter of deliberately keeping the Ray G-Saha rivalry alive.
Some social media users have urged Abtex to stop making constant comparisons between the two artistes, warning that the ongoing debate risks fueling regional and tribal tensions among their respective fanbases.
For now, Abtex remains adamant that a bigger stage does not necessarily mean a bigger victory—and, in his view, Ray G still holds the Kololo crown.
