Singer Kapa Cat has revealed that she is exploring online companionship as an additional source of income, citing declining earnings and changing fortunes in the country’s music industry.

The singer argued that artistes are increasingly doing more work for less money while losing some of the respect and financial rewards they previously enjoyed.

As a result, Kapa Cat said she has branched into other income-generating activities, including offering online companionship to people who want someone to talk to.

She explained that her clients have different needs, with some seeking company because they are bored while others want to discuss business and other subjects.

“Some of them want company because they’re bored. And they pay you good money for it,” she said.

Kapa Cat noted that some people may interpret the arrangement as sexual, but insisted that online companionship does not automatically involve intimacy.

She added that while she would not rule out pursuing a romantic or sexual connection with someone if she genuinely wanted to, such a decision would remain entirely hers.

“I will sleep with whoever I want to, if I want to,” she added.

Her remarks highlight the alternative income streams some musicians are exploring as they navigate the financial challenges they say come with working in Uganda’s music industry.
