Uganda has registered 5 new COVID-19 deaths, the highest number since the outbreak in the country bringing the number to 69.

Uganda has registered 5 new COVID-19 deaths, the highest number since the outbreak in the country bringing the number to 69. 

The 5 COVID-19 deaths registered today are from; Kapchorwa 2, Kampala 1, Mbale 1 and Gulu 1.

The ministry of health also confirmed that 167 new cases were registered from samples tested on Tuesday bringing the number of cumulative confirmed cases to 6,879. 

Of the 167 new cases, 155are contacts and alerts with Kampala taking the lion share 62, Kiryandongo 40, Soroti 7 and Agago 5. Also, Bundibugyo has 5 cases, Mbale 6, Gulu 4, Isingiro 3, Bududa 2, Jinja 2, Lamwo 4, Masindi 2, Buikwe 1, Kaberamaido 1 and Koboko 1.

Other areas are; Kole 4, Luwero 1, Mukono 2, Nwoya 1, Wakiso 1 and Terego 1.

12 other cases are of returnees: 11 from India and 1 from South Sudan.

Currently, Uganda has 6,879 cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19, 69 deaths and 2,731
