A UPDF soldier, Lance Corporal Katungwensi Katooko Moses is set to be prosecuted after shooting dead 7 people and injuring many others.
According to reports, Katooko who was attached to Mburamaizi Barracks in Kihihi Kanungu opened fire at his wife (also a UPDF soldier) killing her instantly, plus another officer who had intervened to calm the situation.
Katooko killed 5 civilians during his short lived action. These were in the trading center, with the injured fellows.
He would later hand himself over to the authorities, and is now under custody at Kihihi.
Army Spokesperson, Paddy Ankunda says; “Lance Corporal Katungwensi Katooko Moses who killed civilians in Kanungu is under police detention at Kihihi. Investigations with a view to prosecution are under way.”
No one has been able to identify the problem that led to Katooko’s actions against his dear wife.
