A sad cloud covered Alengo village in Atira Sub County Serere district after one of the residents and a retired police officer killed his wife and his daughter in cold blood, before committing suicide.
Residents believe that the killer and deceased James Robert Elasu, mercilessly killed his wife Salume Akiteng and their two month old daughter, using a hand hoe before taking his own life on Tuesday.
Elau’s brother, Naptali Edwaru, says his brother had for some time been feuding with his wife for giving her honey pot to another man, yet he was man enough to satisfy her.
Efforts to reconcile the couple were in vain, resulting into the unfortunate deaths.
the deceased had at one point been dragged to Serere Central Police Station according to Florence Adongo, the In Charge of the Child and Protection Unit Serere at the station due to domestic violence. According to Adongo, this is the second case of this nature in the district within a space of one month.
Jimmy Anthony Oyuk, the Serere District Police Commander describes the incident as unfortunate, saying being a retired police officer; Elau shouldn't have taken matters in his hands.
