At least two people are confirmed dead and 38 others injured in an accident that occurred at Ruhonwa in Muhanga Town Council, along Muhanga-Kisiizi road on Monday evening.
The two lost their lives when a fuso lorry registration number UAW 638F collided with a breakdown truck registration number UAE 469S before veering off the road.
The duo was identified as Mercy Niwamanya, 30, and Veeri Biriho, 52, residents of Hamuhonga in Rwamucucu Sub County, Kabale District.
The injured, also residents of the same area are now admitted at Kisiizi Hospital in Rukungiri district. Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that police is searching for the truck driver who is currently on the run.
On Sunday evening 30 students of Immaculate Heart Girls Secondary School in Rukungiri District sustained injuries and an accident that occurred along the Ntungamo-Rukungiri road , when a bus number UAZ 139P they were traveling on failed to negotiate a sharp corner, swerved off the road and overturned.
