Musician Mansur Semanda, popularly known as King Saha, has intensified his involvement in the ongoing election campaigns as he continues to traverse the country alongside presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine.

Speaking boldly at a recent gathering, King Saha dismissed reliance on the Electoral Commission chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, as the National Unity Platform (NUP) heads into the January polls.

He revealed that the party has already set up its own parallel tallying system and will publicly announce results even in the absence of Byabakama.

King Saha further emphasized that NUP is prepared to declare its own victory should the Electoral Commission fail to announce timely results.

“I am standing here to tell all of you that we already bought calculators and we shall tally these votes by ourselves. We shall go ahead to declare ourselves winners if Byabakama fails to do so because we are competent enough to gather votes across the country as they come in,” Saha stated.

However, according to the Ugandan Constitution, the Independent Electoral Commission remains the only legally mandated body authorized to declare election results.
