Renowned TV personality Ivan Kyeyune, popularly known for his voiceovers on Point Black, is set to quit NTV Uganda following his landslide victory in the Nakasongola Constituency parliamentary race.

Kyeyune was officially declared winner on the 16th of this month, defeating the incumbent candidate from the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Following his election, Nation Media Group has already moved to advertise his position, signaling preparations to find his replacement at the Serena-based television station.

According to sources, Kyeyune is expected to take oath of office in May, and will spend the coming months helping to train his successor before fully transitioning into active politics.

Kyeyune rose to popularity through his widely followed news segments “Zungulu” and “Point Black”, which air every Friday during the 7:00pm and 9:00pm news bulletins on NTV Uganda.

Although he had earlier promised to continue serving his television audience even after joining politics, it now appears that a change of heart has pushed him to completely exit the media space.

His departure marks yet another high-profile case of a Ugandan media personality crossing over into the political arena.
