Bobi Wine is set to return to Uganda after completing a series of engagements in the United States, with his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), already preparing for his arrival.
Bobi Wine recently announced that he had concluded the work that took him abroad and is now planning to return home.
“My fight is in Uganda, and I will go back. I am on the move, and the final stop will be Kampala, Uganda. I am not in exile. I am not a refugee — I may have some characteristics of one, but I am not,” he said.
Party spokesperson and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, confirmed that the party is in close contact with Bobi Wine and is organizing his return.
“He will return and carry on with his responsibilities as party president. Once the date is confirmed, we shall inform the nation about the time and flight. There is nothing to hide,” he explained.
Ssenyonyi also noted that Bobi Wine has remained actively involved in party affairs despite being away, attending meetings virtually and staying updated on party activities.
“Our president has been away, but we have remained in constant contact. He attended some meetings via video link, and we briefed him on everything,” he added.
During his time abroad, Bobi Wine held a series of public and private meetings with international leaders and organizations aimed at strengthening support for his political cause.
