Uganda's entertainment industry continues to mourn veteran musician David Sifayo, popularly known as Master Parrot, who died on Monday evening following a hit-and-run accident along the Northern Bypass in Masanafu.

The singer's death has attracted tributes from fellow musicians, fans, and friends who remembered him as one of the pioneers of Uganda's urban music movement.

Among those who paid tribute was former Firebase Crew colleague and opposition leader Bobi Wine, who expressed sadness over the loss.

“Just got the terrible news that we’ve lost our brother Master Parrot. Old funny conversations and careless hearty laughter are the painful memories you leave with us, my friend. Until we meet again,” Bobi Wine wrote on social media.

However, media personality MC Kats has criticized Bobi Wine and members of his camp, alleging that they failed to offer financial support towards Master Parrot's vigil despite their close association with the late musician.

Taking to social media, MC Kats questioned why Bobi Wine and his team had not reportedly contributed basic necessities for the vigil.

“Naye even food or water for your old school friend’s death and vigil you can’t provide. You people are so meeeaan yet rich. Bobi and your people needa,” MC Kats posted.

The remarks have sparked debate among fans, with some defending Bobi Wine's public tribute while others echoed calls for more practical support for the late singer's family.

Master Parrot was a founding member of the original Firebase Crew alongside Bobi Wine, Sizzaman, Jajja Nana, Buchaman, and Toolman Kibalama. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s through his dancehall and reggae music.

His musical legacy includes popular songs such as Muliro, Mama Wabana, Oliwa, Kikili Kitya, Ekikompola, Nankya, Mwana Muwala, and Kawal, a collaboration with Jose Chameleone.
