Former Ugandan boxer Mr. Wiliam Galiwango passed away last night at 10pm in Virginia Richmond USA.
Born on the Feb 26, 1961, Galiwango is considered one of Uganda’s best boxers of all times. He came in the limelight after his famous 3rd KO lands Los Angeles!
Who is Galiwango?
One of the fiercest rivalries in the National Open Championship history between KBC and the Army (then UNLFA) produced this highly light welterweight contest in the 1984 edition of the annual prestigious tournament. KBC’s William Galiwango was the pre-fight underdog against army man Arthur Serwano, but the stakes were high with a national team slot up for grabs ahead of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
In the third round, Galiwango unleashed a powerful left hook that dropped Serwano to the canvass. KBC fans couldn’t believe the sight of bulky Serwano struggling to get up several times.
May his soul rest in peace.
