Musician Ykee Benda has backed musicians to receive the 13 billion Uganda shillings from the government.
Ykee Benda explained musicians are also taxpayers who deserve support from the government just like any Ugandan.
He also said they make a big contribution to the government, and if he sees no bad reason, they should be supported through subsidization.
"We deserve to be supported because we are Ugandans and taxpayers. I don't see any bad thing when the government decides to sponsor us because we shall give them back money. It's more like a loan, and musicians employ different people, so the support is not going into a single person's pocket," he said in an interview with Sanyuka Television.
Ykee Benda believes the musicians deserve more than 13 billion Ugandan shillings.
