For more than fifteen years, the Ugandan music industry has largely revolved around three artists: Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, and Bebe Cool. Dubbed the "big three," this narrative has been heavily promoted by the media.
However, Bobi Wine now says he has no interest in engaging in the discussion. He believes the industry needs to look beyond this trio and focus on the contributions of artists from all generations—those who came before, their own generation, and the new talent emerging today.
"I have no interest in the 'big three' discussion. I think beyond that, and to me, it's always about the whole industry," he explained. "We should acknowledge that there are people who came before us; Herman Basude, Philly Lutaaya, Paul Kafeero all did well for the music."
Bobi Wine admitted that he used to engage in the "big three" debate in the past because it brought fame and influence at the time. However, he now considers it a "lowering discussion" and has left it behind.
"The 'big three' brought vibes and influence at the time, but it can't continue that way," he added. "I am looking at bigger things."
