The Miss Tourism Uganda pageant has officially launched its 2026–2027 edition, with registrations now open for contestants from across the country.

The launch event was held on Monday at the Kampala Serena Hotel, marking the beginning of nationwide regional campaigns set to take place in early 2026.

This year’s competition will run under the theme “AI, Culture and Tourism,” highlighting the growing role of technology in promoting Uganda’s cultural heritage and boosting tourism locally and internationally.

According to organizers, the pageant aims to recruit young women and men who will serve as tourism ambassadors, helping to showcase Uganda’s cultural identity while promoting conservation and tourism development.

The grand finale of the competition is scheduled for September 4, 2026, and will also take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The launch event brought together stakeholders from the tourism and cultural sectors, including the reigning Miss Tourism Queen Nachap Kezia Cindy, who encouraged young women across the country to take part in the competition.

“I humbly request young women out there to come up and express interest in this year's competition. Do not fear to register because you can make it,” she said.

She also urged interested contestants to start from their regional levels where the selection process begins.

“Start from your different regions because that is where it all begins. Miss Tourism is for you out there and you should embrace the pageant.”

Organizers explained that the theme “AI, Culture & Tourism” represents Uganda’s past, present, and future — where heritage meets innovation to tell the country’s story in new and creative ways.

Previously, the competition was open only to female contestants. However, beginning in 2025, organizers introduced a parallel programme for male participants, expanding opportunities for more young people to promote tourism.

Launched in 2013, Miss Tourism Uganda celebrates the country’s rich cultural diversity through 12 regional clusters, showcasing traditions, heritage, and tourism potential from across Uganda
