Musician King Saha has sparked fresh debate in the music industry after crediting Bobi Wine for the push behind the Copyright Amendment Bill.

Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, King Saha claimed that the government had long ignored the proposed amendment until Bobi Wine stepped in.

According to Saha, Bobi Wine tasked fellow artist and politician Hilderman to formally introduce the bill in Parliament of Uganda, which forced authorities to take action.

“Bobi Wine is the reason the copyright law was amended. No one deserves credit like him. They had ignored it, but panicked after the move Hilderman made,” he said.

King Saha went further to downplay the role of Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation, claiming they only made noise without making meaningful contributions to the amendment process.

His remarks add to the ongoing divide within the music industry over who truly deserves credit for championing artists’ rights under the proposed law.
