Legendary musician Jose Chameleone has revealed the heartfelt reason behind his decision to open a radio station in Burundi earlier this year, making it clear that making a profit was never his goal.
The Leone Island boss confirmed that he launched Chameleone Radio in Bujumbura, describing the new project as a way of giving back rather than a business investment.
Speaking in an interview with a local TV station, the veteran singer explained that Burundi holds a special place in his heart. He credited the country for playing a massive role in building the foundation of his famous music career during his early days.
Chameleone stressed that the radio station is a symbol of gratitude toward a country and its people who supported him when he was still rising to stardom. For him, the project represents loyalty and thanks, which are values he cares about more than the money most business owners chase.
"I also started Chameleone Radio in Burundi. That venture isn't about making money; it's about giving back to a nation that played a big role in laying the foundation for my music career," Chameleone explained during the TV interview.
The news has brought admiration from fans in Uganda and across East Africa, with many praising the musician for using his success to support the communities that helped him grow.
This move highlights Chameleone's lasting connection to East and Central Africa that goes far beyond just singing music.
