Socialite Sheilah Gashumba has responded to content creator Evelyn Mic following comments suggesting that she had broken up with her boyfriend, Alex.
Gashumba dismissed the apology that followed the remarks, arguing that the comments had already crossed a line by bringing her partner into a public discussion.
"She kept saying, 'Oh, I am sorry,' but what is sorry going to help? It's okay to talk about me because I am a public figure, but I know my rights. However, talking about Alex isn't right," Gashumba said.
Sheilah also addressed public discussion surrounding the couple's age difference, saying Alex's age should not make him an easy target for online commentary.
According to the socialite, her boyfriend operates primarily within business circles and does not live the same public-facing lifestyle as social media personalities.
"I know they see that he is young because our age gap is about three or four years. But this is a businessperson who isn't dealing with people like Evelyn Mic, he is dealing with big, proper Ugandan businessmen," she added.
Gashumba's remarks come amid continued public interest in her relationship, with the socialite maintaining that while she accepts scrutiny directed at her as a public figure, she does not believe the same should extend to her partner.
